Raju’s second brother too has big role in Satyam fraud’

CID says custodial interrogation is required.

Hyderabad, Feb. 12 Key documents pertaining to siphoning of funds by disgraced ex-chairman of Satyam Computer Services Ltd, Mr B. Ramalinga Raju, were kept in a Toyota Innova which was “camouflaged” and moved to different places to avoid seizure by the Crime Investigation Department.

This detail was disclosed by the CID counsel while countering an anticipatory bail petition filed by Mr B. Suryanarayana Raju, brother of Mr Ramalinga Raju and Director of SRSR Advisory Services, at the IV Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court here on Thursday.

During the CID interrogation, Mr Gopalakrishnam Raju, General Manager of SRSR Advisory Services (who was arrested and on bail now), confessed that he tried to protect the documents on the directions from Mr Suryanarayana Raju, he said.

“Mr Suryanarayana Raju went to the house of Mr Gopalakrishnam Raju personally on January 10 and asked him to shift the documents in five cardboard boxes. After that he was giving him instructions over phone,” Assistant Public Prosecutor Mr K. Ajay Kumar told the magistrate.

“Some of the documents were also handed over to some others, including Mr Badri, CFO of Matyas Properties, who has been absconding,” he alleged. Mr Suryanarayana Raju was “equally responsible” for the Satyam fraud along with his two brothers and ex-CFO Mr V. Srinivas and there was a need for custodial interrogation, he argued.

Counsel for Mr Suryanarayana Raju argued that Section 201 of IPC (dealing with disappearance of evidence) was not applicable to this case as the CID managed to seize them finally.

The magistrate had reserved the orders for Friday.Meanwhile, the VI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court, which had admitted the second bail petition of Mr Ramalinga Raju, Mr Rama Raju and Mr V. Srinivas would hear the arguments on Friday.
